Moving from Ijora to Palmgrove takes you from the industrial hub near Lagos Island straight into the mainland along the main traffic backbone of Lagos. Because of ongoing high fuel prices and inflation, transport costs change quickly depending on the time of day, the weather, and how heavy the traffic is.

Best Time to Travel
To beat the heavy morning rush, try to leave Ijora before 6:30 AM or wait until the off-peak period between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM. For evening travel, try to move before 4:30 PM to avoid the massive gridlock of people returning from Lagos Island.

Walk to Ijora Olopa or Ijora 7-Up bus stop and board a short-distance Danfo bus or Keke heading to Costain.
Drop at Costain Bus Stop, cross over safely using the pedestrian ways, and look for a big yellow Danfo or a small bus going towards Ojuelegba or directly to Barracks.
From Ojuelegba Under-bridge or Barracks, board a final Danfo heading down Ikorodu Road and tell the conductor you will drop at Palmgrove Bus Stop.
Always enter the bus with smaller naira notes ('change') so the conductor does not mix up your money or pair you with another passenger.
Keep your bag on your lap and zip it tight, especially when the bus stops to pick up random passengers along Western Avenue.

Safety Rating
Medium - Ijora Under-bridge and Costain areas can be very risky early in the morning or late at night. Watch out for pickpockets and area boys around these places. Keep your phone and wallet safe inside the bus, and do not hold your phone out when traffic is at a standstill.
BRT / Rail / Water
Yes, there is BRT availability. While you cannot get a direct BRT bus inside Ijora itself, you can easily access the BRT corridor once you get to Costain or National Stadium. From there, you can use a Cowry Card to board a BRT bus straight down Ikorodu Road to Palmgrove.

If you are using public Danfo buses, you should budget between β¦1,000 and β¦1,800 in total. If you are ordering a private ride-hailing car like Bolt or Uber, it will cost you anywhere from β¦4,500 to β¦7,500 depending on the traffic and surge pricing.
There is no direct train station inside Ijora that goes to Palmgrove. However, you can use the BRT system. You just need to take a cheap bus from Ijora to Costain or National Stadium, and from there you can use your Cowry Card to board the blue BRT buses going directly to Palmgrove.
It is not very safe after 9:00 PM. The areas around Ijora Under-bridge, Costain, and Fadeyi become dark and lonely, making them hotspots for area boys and robbers. If you must travel late, use a registered ride-hailing car or make sure you are in a fully loaded public bus.
If Ojuelegba is completely blocked, you can drop from your bus at Barracks or Stadium. From there, you can walk to the nearest BRT bus stop or take an alternative inner-route street bus that bypasses the main bottleneck.
