Moving from Ikate (Lekki) to Jibowu takes you from the Island to a major mainland transport hub. The trip goes through the Lekki-Epe Expressway, connects via the Third Mainland Bridge, and ends in the Yaba-Jibowu area. Because of heavy traffic on the bridge and around Yaba, your travel time can change a lot depending on the time of day.

Stand at the Ikate Bus Stop along the expressway and board a direct Danfo bus heading to Obalende.
Drop at Obalende Bus Terminus, walk towards the park area where buses load for the Mainland, and enter a Danfo going straight to Yaba or Jibowu.
If the bus drops you at Yaba Bus Stop, take a short walk or enter a quick shuttle bus/Keke heading down to Jibowu.
Always hold your change (called 'change' or 'lesser denomination') before you enter the Danfo to avoid fights with the conductor.
Listen carefully to the conductor when they call the destination so you do not enter a bus going to Ajah by mistake.
Keep your phone inside your bag immediately you drop at Obalende or Yaba, as these are high-activity areas for pickpockets.
Ask the driver if the bus is going through Third Mainland Bridge or taking the inside Costain route so you can plan your time.
If there is no heavy traffic, the trip can take between 35 to 50 minutes. However, during the peak morning and evening rush hours, it can easily take 1.5 to 2.5 hours because of bottlenecks at the Lekki Toll Gate and Yaba.
No, they are not stable. Fares go up by 30% to 50% during peak hours (6:00 AM - 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM) because fuel prices are high and many commuters are fighting for the few available buses.
It is very rare to find a direct Danfo bus running from Ikate straight to Jibowu. You will almost always have to stop and change buses at Obalende or CMS to complete your journey.
If it is late, avoid standing alone under the Jibowu bridge. Walk quickly to a well-lit area near the major transport company parks (like Chisco or GUO) where there are security guards and people, then order a ride-hailing car or find a night-bus heading towards the Island.

Best Time to Travel
To beat the heavy morning rush, leave Ikate before 6:30 AM. If you are traveling during the day, the best off-peak window is between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM when the Third Mainland Bridge is usually free. For evening travel, try to wait until after 8:00 PM unless you want to sit in the serious mainland-bound gridlock.
Safety Rating
Medium - The route is generally safe during the day because it is always busy. However, you must be very careful at night, especially around Jibowu Under-bridge and Yaba. Watch out for pickpockets who mix with the crowd to steal phones and wallets. Keep your bags closed tightly and avoid holding your phone loosely in traffic.
BRT / Rail / Water
There is no direct BRT lane or rail line running straight from Ikate to Jibowu. However, you can access the standard BRT buses once you get to Obalende, or you can use the Lagos Red Line Rail if you walk down to the nearby Yaba Train Station from Jibowu.
