Head to a major interstate park in Kano. Recommended parks include Rano Park or Kofar Ruwa Park, where companies like GUO Transport, GIGM (God is Good Motors), and Peace Mass Transit operate.

Purchase your ticket. It's advisable to book a day or two in advance, especially during festive seasons. Confirm luggage policy; large bags might incur extra charges. Board your assigned bus (usually a Hiace, Sprinter, or luxury bus).

Depart Kano. The bus will navigate out of the city, typically starting by departing left on an unnamed road, then left on MASALLACIN JALLI STREET, turning right on an unnamed road, taking a slight left fork on an unnamed road, then a left turn onto Emir Palace Road, followed by a slight right fork on Emir Palace Road. You'll then hit a roundabout, turning right onto the A2 highway.

Travel south on the A2 highway. You will pass through or bypass significant towns like Zaria and Kaduna. The A2 here is generally a good dual carriageway. Expect occasional security checkpoints.

Continue on the A2 (Abuja-Kaduna Highway). You will approach Abuja. Most interstate buses will use the Abuja bypass, taking a roundabout straight onto Nnamdi Azikwe Way, then exiting slight right on Nnamdi Azikwe Way, taking an off-ramp slight right back onto A2, and a slight left fork onto the Abuja-Kaduna Highway (which merges with the road leading south).

Proceed on the A2 towards Lokoja. This stretch can have varying road conditions and is known for heavy traffic, especially around the Lokoja bridge. Buses usually have a rest stop in Lokoja for passengers to eat and use facilities.

Continue past Lokoja towards Okene, still on the A2. From Okene, the route will shift. You'll turn left onto the F116, then a slight right onto an unnamed road that becomes Agbor road Main. This route takes you through parts of Edo State.

From Agbor road Main, you will navigate through a series of turns and roundabouts, eventually connecting to the A232 (Benin-Asaba Expressway). This section can also have heavy traffic.

Travel on the A232 towards Asaba. You will then approach the Niger Bridge, which connects Asaba (Delta State) to Onitsha (Anambra State). Expect traffic and checkpoints around the bridge.

After crossing the Niger Bridge, you'll be in Onitsha. The bus will navigate through some turns, continuing on the Onitsha-Asaba Road, then an off-ramp slight left, merging onto A232, and proceeding through roundabouts until it arrives at the major motor park in Onitsha.

Upon arrival at Upper Iweka, Onitsha, you can find local transport like 'Keke Napep' (tricycles) or 'Okada' (motorcycles) to your final destination within Onitsha. Be aware of touts and negotiate fares.
