This massive market is a true powerhouse of commerce, not just in Nigeria but across West Africa. But a common question many people ask is: Which state is Ariaria International Market in Nigeria?
Let's clear this up right away: **Ariaria International Market is located in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria.**
Abia State, situated in the southeastern part of Nigeria, is known for its strong commercial and industrial base. Aba, in particular, is its commercial nerve centre, often called "Enyimba City" (Elephant City) due to its size and commercial might. Ariaria is the heart of this commercial activity, attracting traders and buyers from all over Nigeria and neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Benin Republic.
This blog post will take you on a detailed journey to understand Ariaria International Market, its exact location, what makes it special, and how you can navigate your way there and around.
Aba is a major city in Abia State. It is divided into two main Local Government Areas (LGAs): Aba North and Aba South. Ariaria International Market straddles both these LGAs, making it a central and easily accessible point within the city.
The city of Aba is strategically located, serving as a gateway to other major cities in the South-South and South-East regions. It shares borders with towns and communities like Osisioma Ngwa, Obingwa, and Ugwunagbo. The terrain around Aba is generally flat, which has made it easy for the city to expand and for commercial activities to thrive. The Aba River also flows through parts of the city, though it's not a primary transport route for the market.
Ariaria itself is not just a market; it's a sprawling ecosystem of shops, stalls, warehouses, and workshops. It's famous for locally manufactured goods, especially shoes, bags, garments, and leather products, all proudly stamped "Made in Aba." Beyond these, you can find electronics, spare parts, building materials, food items, and almost anything else you can imagine.
Since Ariaria is a major hub, getting there is relatively straightforward from most parts of Nigeria. Aba is well-connected by road. Here's a breakdown:
