Moving from Apapa to Volkswagen takes you through the busy industrial hubs of Lagos. Because of ongoing port traffic, heavy trailers, and road constructions along the Badagry Expressway, you need a smart plan. This guide breaks down the best routes using local yellow buses (Danfos), private options, and connection joints like Mile 2 and Maza Maza to get you there safely without overpaying.

Head to the main park at Apapa Wharf or Coconut and board a commercial yellow bus (Danfo) going straight to Mile 2.
Drop at Mile 2 Under-bridge. Walk carefully through the pedestrian lane toward the Badagry Expressway loading side.
Board another Danfo going towards Okokomaiko or Agbara, and tell the conductor you will drop at Volkswagen.
Watch out for the popular Volkswagen bus stop right after Festac Third Gate/Alakija, and tell the conductor 'Owa' to drop you.
Always hold 'change' (smaller naira notes like β¦200 and β¦500) before you enter the bus to avoid fights with conductors.
Listen to the conductor carefully when he shouts the destination so you don't enter a bus going to a different route like Oshodi.
Keep your eyes on your luggage at Mile 2; it is a very busy connection point where boys can easily snatch items.
If you are unsure of where to drop, sit close to the driver or conductor and remind them gently as the journey goes on.
Because of recent fuel price increases, if you are using public Danfo buses, expect to spend between β¦1,800 and β¦2,700 in total. If you choose ride-hailing cars, it will cost you between β¦7,500 and β¦12,000 depending on the time of day and traffic.
Yes, but not directly from inside Apapa. You have to take a bus or boat to Marina first. From the Marina Rail Station, take the Blue Line train straight to Mile 2. Once you drop at Mile 2, you will then enter a regular Danfo bus to complete the journey to Volkswagen.
Mile 2 is moderately safe during broad daylight when everywhere is busy. However, it becomes dangerous in the early mornings (before 6:30 AM) and night times (after 7:30 PM). Always be fast, don't show off expensive items, and don't stand alone in dark corners.
If heavy trucks lock down the road completely, the fastest choice is to drop from your bus, join other commuters to walk across the blocked bridge on foot, and then enter a new Keke or Danfo on the other side of the traffic gridlock to continue to Volkswagen.

Best Time to Travel
To beat the heaviest traffic, travel between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM. If you must travel in the morning, leave Apapa before 6:00 AM. For evening travel, try to move before 4:00 PM or wait until after 8:30 PM when the trailer rush reduces.
Safety Rating
Medium - Be very alert at Mile 2, Maza Maza, and Volkswagen bus stops, especially in the early mornings and late nights. Pickpockets and 'one-chance' criminals operate here. Keep your phones and wallets inside your bags, avoid counting money in public, and do not board any bus that looks suspicious or has only men inside.
BRT / Rail / Water
There is no direct BRT bus running inside Apapa to Volkswagen. However, the Lagos Blue Line Rail is available nearby! You can take a boat or bus from Apapa to Marina, then enter the train from Marina to Mile 2. From Mile 2, you will complete the remaining journey to Volkswagen by Danfo bus.
