Moving from Magodo in Kosofe to Volkswagen bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway is a long cross-city journey. It connects the mainland outward corridor to the far western industrial and residential zone of Ojo. Because of the heavy distance and constant traffic bottlenecks along Mile 2 and Ikorodu Road, commuters need to plan for multiple stop-overs, connection points, and changing fare rates driven by the recent fuel price hikes across Lagos.

Take a short commercial bus or Keke from Magodo gate out to Ojota bus stop.
At Ojota, look for a big yellow Danfo bus or a loading coaster bus going directly to Mile 2. Board the bus and stay inside through Ikorodu Road and Eko Bridge.
Drop at Mile 2 final bus stop. Walk carefully through the overhead pedestrian bridge to the side facing the Badagry Expressway.
Board a fresh Danfo going towards Okokomaiko or Agbara, and tell the conductor you will drop at Volkswagen bus stop.
Always enter with your change (smaller naira notes) and tell the conductor your bus stop before you enter to avoid shouting match later.
Hold your phone inside your pocket tightly when you are changing buses at Mile 2 because that area has many agile pickpockets.
If you are carrying heavy market load or bags, the conductors will charge you an extra fee for the luggage space before allowing you inside.
Check the body of the Danfo properly to ensure the seats will not tear your fine clothes before sitting down.
On a normal day with regular moving traffic, the journey will take about 2 to 2.5 hours. However, if there is a severe breakdown of a heavy truck at Mile 2 or Maza Maza, the trip can easily stretch to 3 or 4 hours.
No, you cannot use it for the whole trip. The Cowry Card will only work for the government-regulated BRT buses and the Blue Line Rail train. The yellow Danfo buses and local Kekes only accept cash (Naira notes).
It is not highly recommended. The areas around Mile 2 under-bridge and Maza Maza can become quite dark and lonely after 9:00 PM, making it easier for hoodlums and traffic robbers to target commuters. Try to wrap up your journey before nightfall.
The sudden fluctuations and hikes in fares are caused by the rising pump price of petrol and diesel across Lagos filling stations. Drivers change prices instantly depending on how much they bought fuel and how severe the traffic congestion is on that specific hour.

Best Time to Travel
To beat the extreme morning rush-hour traffic, it is best to leave Magodo as early as 5:30 AM. If you miss that early window, you should wait until the mid-morning off-peak period between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM when the traffic on Ikorodu road and Eko bridge reduces.
Safety Rating
Medium - Commuters must stay alert at major connection hubs like Ojota and Mile 2. Avoid showing expensive phones or counting cash openly at the bus stops, especially in the early morning or late evening. Pickpockets and bag-snatchers operate in crowded spaces, so keep your bags zipped up and close to your body.
BRT / Rail / Water
Yes, partial availability. You can take the Blue Line Rail from National Theatre or Mile 2 down to Alaba or Mile 2 itself, which helps you skip a massive part of the Badagry Expressway traffic. Blue BRT buses also run heavily from Ojota down to Fadeyi and Costain.
