Best Time to Travel

To beat the morning rush hour, it is best to leave Chevron between 5:30 AM and 6:15 AM before the Lekki-Epe expressway locks up. For off-peak travel, mid-day from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM is very smooth. For the evening return journey from Gbagada back to the Island, try to move before 4:00 PM or delay your movement until after 8:30 PM to avoid spending hours sitting in gridlock on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Safety Rating

Medium - The route is generally busy and populated, but you must remain highly vigilant at major transition hubs like CMS, Obalende, and Oshodi/Oworonshoki under-bridge. Watch out for pickpockets who mix with the crowd during rush hours. Avoid display of expensive phones or large cash bundles at the bus stops. If you are moving late at night, use well-lit garages and avoid one-chance operators by boarding only registered yellow buses inside standard parks rather than flagging them down on the highway.

BRT / Rail / Water

There is no direct BRT lane or functional train network linking the Lekki axis directly to Gbagada. However, you can access regulated BRT corridor systems once you cross over to the Mainland via the CMS or Obalende connection points, or use the standard LAGBUS options passing through the Third Mainland Bridge corridor.
