Lagos, a bustling metropolis, generates a lot of waste daily. Managing this waste is a huge task, and the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is at the forefront of this effort. One of their most significant operational hubs is located at Olusosun, an area well-known for its large landfill. If you need to visit the LAWMA Olusosun office for official business, complaints, or inquiries, finding its exact location can be a bit tricky if you're not familiar with the area.
This detailed guide from Faster.ng will help you pinpoint the LAWMA Olusosun Office, provide clear directions, and give you transport tips to make your journey smooth and stress-free in 2026. We understand that navigating Lagos can be challenging, so we've broken down everything you need to know in simple, easy-to-understand language.
Olusosun is a prominent area in Lagos, primarily known for housing one of the largest municipal solid waste landfills in Africa β the Olusosun Landfill. It is strategically located within the Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), which falls under the larger Kosofe Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State.
The area is bordered by other well-known Lagos communities such as Ojota to the north, Ketu to the east, and parts of Berger to the west. Its terrain is generally flat, typical of many parts of mainland Lagos, but it's dominated by the significant land feature of the landfill itself. The LAWMA Olusosun Office is situated very close to the main entrance of this landfill, making it a key landmark for navigation.
Being close to major transport hubs like Ojota and Ketu makes Olusosun relatively accessible, though you might need to take a connecting ride from these major bus stops.
Getting to the LAWMA Olusosun Office usually involves reaching a major bus stop first, then taking a shorter connecting ride. Here are common routes from different parts of Lagos:
If you are coming from Ikeja, Maryland, or Agege, your best bet is to first head towards Ojota. Ojota is a major transport interchange and a gateway to many parts of Lagos, including Olusosun.
Step 1: Get to Ojota: From Ikeja Under Bridge, Oshodi, or Maryland, enter a yellow bus (danfo) or a BRT bus heading to Ojota. The fare will vary depending on your starting point.
Step 2: From Ojota to Olusosun: Once you drop at Ojota bus stop (especially near the pedestrian bridge or the main motor park), look for smaller yellow buses or Keke Napep (tricycles) going to Olusosun. These vehicles usually station themselves around the Ojota motor park area. Tell the driver you are going to the LAWMA Olusosun Office or the Olusosun Landfill gate. The office is very close to the main entrance of the landfill.
Travelers coming from the Island will also need to connect through a major mainland hub, typically Ojota or Ketu.
Step 1: Get to Ojota or Ketu: From CMS, Marina, or other parts of the Island, enter a yellow bus or BRT bus heading towards Ojota or Ketu. Ojota is usually a more direct option.
Step 2: From Ojota/Ketu to Olusosun: If you drop at Ojota, follow the instructions above (Step 2 from Ikeja). If you drop at Ketu, you can also find Keke Napep or smaller buses heading to Olusosun. Ketu is very close to Olusosun, so this ride will be short.
For those coming from areas like Yaba or Surulere, your primary destination should also be Ojota.
Step 1: Get to Ojota: Enter a yellow bus or BRT bus from Yaba or Surulere heading to Ojota. You might need to take one bus to Fadeyi or Maryland, then connect to Ojota, depending on the specific route.
Step 2: From Ojota to Olusosun: Once at Ojota, take a Keke Napep or a small bus directly to the LAWMA Olusosun Office, located near the landfill entrance.
If you are traveling from Ikorodu, you will likely pass through Mile 12 or Ketu.
Step 1: Get to Ketu/Mile 12: Take a bus from Ikorodu to Ketu or Mile 12. These are major bus stops along the Ikorodu Road axis.

Step 2: From Ketu/Mile 12 to Olusosun: From Ketu or Mile 12, Olusosun is a very short distance. You can easily find Keke Napep (tricycles) or even commercial motorcycles (okada, though restrictions apply in many areas) that will take you directly to the LAWMA Olusosun Office near the landfill.

Traveling in Lagos requires a bit of awareness. Here are some tips for a safe and smooth journey to the LAWMA Olusosun Office:
Travel During Daylight: It's always safer and easier to navigate during the day. Plan your visit to the office within official working hours.
Confirm Fares: Before you enter any public transport, always confirm the fare with the driver or conductor to avoid disagreements. Remember, fares are usually quoted per person.
Watch Your Belongings: Keep your bags and valuables secure and close to you, especially in crowded bus stops and markets.
Ask for Directions: Don't hesitate to ask locals for directions if you are unsure. Most Lagosians are friendly and willing to help. Just ask clearly for "LAWMA Olusosun Office" or "Olusosun Landfill gate."
