Walk or take a short local ride from inside Makoko to the main road at Adekunle Bus Stop.
Board a standard yellow Danfo bus going towards Obalende or CMS.
Drop at Obalende Bus Stop, walk through the park, and board another quick Danfo or Keke heading straight into Victoria Island.
Alight at your final destination along Ozumba Mbadiwe or Ahmadu Bello Way.
Always hold small change (change/legal tender) to avoid arguments with the bus conductor.
Listen carefully to the conductor when they shout the destination so you do not enter the wrong bus.
Keep your bag zipped and hold it tightly in front of you while walking through Obalende.
Ask the driver exactly where they will stop before you enter the bus to avoid long, unplanned walks.
Because of recent fuel price increases and inflation, using public Danfo buses will cost you between β¦1,100 and β¦1,700 total for a one-way trip. If you choose a private ride-hailing car, expect to pay anywhere from β¦6,500 to β¦9,500 depending on traffic.
The absolute fastest way is to leave the house very early, latest by 6:00 AM. Once it hits 7:00 AM, the Adekunle entry to Third Mainland Bridge and the Obalende exit become heavily choked, easily adding an extra hour to your commute.
Kekes are allowed on specific internal routes within Victoria Island, such as the path from Obalende through to parts of Adetokunbo Ademola. However, commercial motorcycles (Okadas) are strictly banned on all major roads and highways across the Island.
Stay calm and remain inside the vehicle. Keep your phone out of sight to avoid 'catch in traffic' street hawkers or thieves. If it is an emergency, wait until the bus gets close to a visible security or traffic enforcement point before stepping out.
