It's best to book your ticket a day or two in advance, especially during festive periods. Arrive at the park at least 30-60 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

Step 2: Departure & Vehicle Type. Your journey will typically be in a comfortable air-conditioned luxury bus (e.g., Marcopolo, Coaster) or a Hiace bus, depending on the company and passenger load. The bus will depart from Umuahia, navigating through Umuwaya Road to join the main A3 highway heading north.

Step 3: The Journey - Major Transit Towns & Rest Stops. The bus will travel north on the A3, which merges with the Enugu - Port Harcourt Expressway, passing through Enugu. You'll likely have a brief stop around 9th Mile Corner for refreshments or to pick up more passengers. The route continues through Benue State, passing through Makurdi, which is often a major rest stop for passengers to stretch, use restrooms, and grab a quick meal. From Makurdi, the journey proceeds via the Makurdi-Jos Road through Lafia, Nasarawa State, before heading towards Kafanchan.

Step 4: Road Conditions & Security. The route primarily uses major federal highways (A3, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, F113, Makurdi-Jos Road). While sections are dual carriageway and generally good, expect varying road conditions, including potholes in certain areas, especially after the rainy season. There will be multiple security checkpoints manned by police, military, or FRSC personnel. Cooperate fully and have your ID ready if requested. Do not travel at night.

Step 5: Arrival in Kafanchan & Local Transit. The bus will arrive at the main interstate motor park in Kafanchan. From there, you can easily find local transport options like Keke Napep (tricycles), Okada (motorcycles - use with caution), or shared taxis to reach your final destination within Kafanchan. Agree on the fare before boarding.
