Moving from Abijo to Okokomaiko means traveling from the far Eastern edge of Lagos (Ibeju-Lekki axis) across the lagoons to the far Western edge (Badagry axis). It is a very long journey that requires patience, crossing multiple major chokepoints, and changing buses at least three to four times. Because of current high fuel prices, you must prepare well for transportation fares.

Stand at the Abijo bus stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway and board a short Danfo or Keke going straight to Ajah.
At Ajah under-bridge, walk into the main motor park and board a big Danfo or Coaster bus going directly to CMS or Obalende.
Drop at CMS, cross the pedestrian bridge, and enter another Danfo going to Mile 2. Alternatively, use the Marina Blue Line Rail station nearby to catch a train to Mile 2.
At Mile 2, go towards the Badagry garage or the BRT lane and enter a final bus heading down to Okokomaiko.
Always carry smaller Naira notes (change) like β¦200 and β¦500 to avoid fights with conductors who do not have 'change' to give back.
Listen carefully to the conductor when they call destinations at Mile 2 so you do not enter a bus going to Agbara or Badagry by mistake.
Hold your bag firmly in front of your chest when walking through CMS and Mile 2 parks.
If you are using the train from Marina to Mile 2, make sure your Cowry Card is funded beforehand to save time.
No, the Blue Line Rail does not reach Abijo or Okokomaiko yet. It only runs from Marina (near CMS) to Mile 2. You can only use it to cover the middle section of your long journey.
Apart from your actual transport fare of about β¦6,000, always keep an extra β¦3,000 to β¦4,000 cash in case fares suddenly go up due to sudden evening traffic or a rainstorm.
It is not recommended. The areas around Mile 2, Iyana-Iba, and Okokomaiko get very dark and lonely after 9:00 PM, increasing the risk of bag-snatching or entering unregistered illegal vehicles.
Stay calm but speak up firmly. Remind the conductor about your change before the bus reaches your final drop-off stop so they don't quickly pair you with another passenger as 'change partners'.

Best Time to Travel
To beat the heavy morning rush, leave Abijo as early as 5:00 AM or wait until the mid-morning window between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM when the traffic on the Lekki-Epe expressway and Mile 2 reduces. Avoid starting this specific long journey after 4:00 PM unless you are prepared to spend the night on the road due to severe evening gridlock.
Safety Rating
Medium - You must be very alert at major connection parks like Mile 2, Oshodi, and Iyana-Iba, especially early in the morning or late at night. Keep your phone and wallet inside your deep pockets or bag. Beware of 'one-chance' buses by only entering commercial vehicles inside designated, organized motor parks rather than jumping on random buses loading by the roadside.
BRT / Rail / Water
Yes, but only for sections of the journey. There is no direct BRT or train from Abijo to Okokomaiko. However, you can use the Blue Line Rail from Marina to Mile 2 to completely bypass mainland traffic, and you can catch regulated BRT buses along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor from Mile 2 down to Okokomaiko.
