Moving from Abijo (on the Lekki-Epe axis) to Tin Can Island Port (in Apapa) takes you from the far eastern side of Lagos to the major western port district. This is a very long journey that cuts across the entire city, passing through Lekki, Victoria Island, Lagos Island, and heading into the busy port corridor. Because of heavy traffic, port trucks, and road construction, you need to plan carefully to avoid getting stuck for hours.

Walk or take a short Keke from your house in Abijo to the Abijo Bus Stop on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. Stand by the roadside and board a commercial Danfo bus going to Ajah.
Drop at Ajah. Cross over the pedestrian bridge or walk to the under-bridge park and enter a large coaster bus or Danfo going straight to CMS.
Alight at CMS Under-bridge. Walk towards the bus parks heading to the mainland and enter a Danfo going to Mile 2 via Eko Bridge.
Drop at Mile 2 Bus Stop. Cross over to the side heading towards Apapa and enter a final short Danfo or Keke heading straight to Tin Can Port Gate.
Always hold 'change' (smaller Naira notes) to avoid fights with the bus conductor.
Keep your bag strapped to your front when walking through CMS and Mile 2 bus stops.
Ask the conductor clearly if the bus is going to 'Tin Can' before you step inside.
Keep your windows rolled up slightly if you are sitting by the side to prevent phone snatching in traffic.
You should hold at least β¦4,000 to β¦5,500 for a one-way trip to cover the multiple bus connections and any minor emergency price increments by conductors.
It is not highly recommended. The Mile 2 and Tin Can axes can become lonely and dark at night, making commuters vulnerable to traffic robbers and area boys. Try to complete your journey before 7:00 PM.
No. You can only use your Cowry Card for the Blue Line Train from Marina to Mile 2 and on large regulated BRT buses if you find one at CMS. The standard Danfos and Kekes only accept cash.
If trucks lock down the expressway completely, drop from your bus at Mile 2 or Sunrise and enter an approved commercial motorcycle (Okada) or Keke that can easily maneuver between the stationary trucks to drop you at the gate.

Best Time to Travel
To avoid the worst morning traffic, leave Abijo as early as 5:00 AM or 5:30 AM. If you miss this window, wait until the off-peak period between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Avoid traveling towards Tin Can between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM as port workers and commuters clog the roads.
Safety Rating
Medium - Be very alert at major interchange bus stops like CMS, Mile 2, and Oshodi. Keep your phones and wallets inside your bags, especially early in the morning or late at night. Beware of 'one-chance' buses (fake commercial vehicles used by criminals). Always enter buses inside organized parks rather than boarding by the roadside. Watch out for heavy container trucks moving around the Apapa and Tin Can axis.
BRT / Rail / Water
There is no direct BRT bus or train from Abijo to Tin Can. However, you can use the Blue Line Rail from Marina to Mile 2 to bypass a massive chunk of traffic on the mainland, then take a short Danfo or Keke from Mile 2 down to Tin Can.
